Project Description

INCLUSIVE SUPPORT

St. Francis Center is proud to celebrate the diversity of San Mateo County, and we are dedicated to ensuring that all residents, especially marginalized groups, feel welcomed and supported. We understand that our community’s strength lies in its diversity and actively work to create a safe environment where individuals, including immigrants, women, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and those with disabilities, can access essential services without fear of discrimination or harm.

As a community-based organization, we are committed to confronting the harmful rise of “othering” rhetoric—a divisive narrative that fosters fear, exclusion, and mistrust. This rhetoric has real consequences, leading to decreased access to essential services, lower school attendance, and increased isolation among vulnerable populations. We believe in building a more inclusive and supportive community where everyone feels safe, valued, and empowered.

You can be part of the solution. Join us as a volunteer and help create a welcoming environment where every individual has the opportunity to thrive. Whether you have a few hours a week or specific skills to share, your time and compassion can make a lasting impact.

UNDOCUSUPPORT INITIATIVE

St. Francis Center is proud to be affiliated with the UndocuSupport Initiative, led by Rafael Avendaño of Redwood City Together, which aims to enhance the success of youth and families in Redwood City and North Fair Oaks through community collaboration.

UndocuSupport is a coalition of organizations focused on alleviating fear and assisting undocumented and mixed-status families in accessing essential services, including housing, food assistance, medical care, immigration services, education, and mental health support.
